• Work with IT staff to monitor internet connectivity and ensure the smooth running of the test
  • Watch for evidence of malpractice. If you suspect a test-taker is engaging in malpractice, note the test-taker’s name, the test session code and test-taker code, and the nature of the suspected malpractice. After the test please report this to the school and OUP. At the start of each test, test-takers will be asked to agree to a student statement declaring that their answers will be entirely their own work. Test attempts where this statement is not accepted may be investigated for potential malpractice.

Students are allowed to:

  • Before the test, seek invigilators’ advice and support for any additional needs (e.g. a scribe or a screen overlay)
  • Bring a pencil and paper to take notes during the test – all notes must be left in the exam room and collected by the invigilator at the end of the test
  • Ask invigilators questions on the use of their test equipment (e.g. computer, headphones) before and during the test (but this must not include questions about the correct answer to a question)
  • Drink water and use the restroom
  • Ask for invigilators’ help if an emergency occurs.

Invigilators are required to:

  • Respond to test-takers’ requests for support in using hardware, but do not hint or tell test-takers how to answer any question
  • Instruct students to complete the declaration to say it is all their own work. If they don’t, they might not get results
  • Follow your usual school procedures should an emergency occur. In case of a non-emergency interruption, e.g. internet connection disruption or students accidentally closing the browser, note the time of the interruption and the time of resumption, and continue until the scheduled test duration is reached
  • Indicate to test-takers when they are halfway through the test, then again when ten and five minutes remain
  • Inform test-takers when the test time ends, and tell them to stop working. Use the test platform to end the test session
  • Important: Ensure all students press the ‘Submit’ button at the end of the test. If students do not submit their test, they will not receive any results for the given subject.
