Oxford International Standardized Assessments are designed to provide meaningful insights into students’ learning—not to rank students or schools, or to measure teaching quality. These assessments help identify areas of strength and opportunities for improvement, so learners can progress confidently into the next stage of study and prepare for future high-stakes exams such as GCSEs and A-Levels.

Results remain within your school (or School group) and are used by Oxford University Press solely for standardization purposes.

To maintain the integrity and purpose of these assessments, it is essential that schools avoid a “teach-to-the-test” approach. Doing so undermines the goal of accurately reflecting students’ current understanding and skills. The assessments are not intended for repeated practice or extensive preparation; their value lies in the diagnostic reports that guide effective teaching and support student wellbeing.

What preparation looks like:

  • Familiarization tests are included with your purchase to help students and teachers feel comfortable with the digital format and question styles— without focusing on specific content.
  • Additional sample materials demonstrate the style, format, and level of challenge across subjects.

Over time, retired questions will be published to build a bank of demonstration content for schools.
